Figures from Australia's ministry of industry, innovation and science show that global aluminium alloy production exceeded 40 million tons in the first eight months of 2017, up 5.8 percent from a year earlier.
In the first eight months of this year, China's aluminium alloy production increased by 7.7 per cent compared with the same period last year, with Asia (excluding China) growing by 14 per cent and South America by 3 per cent year-on-year.
The department also said that China's aluminum producers significantly increased their aluminium production to 17 million tons in the first half of 2017, an 11 percent year-on-year increase, to make up for lost productivity in China's winter production.
Global aluminium production is expected to be 58m tonnes in 2017, down 0.3% from a year earlier. It is mainly affected by China's winter air pollution control and enterprise production limit, and predicts that China's aluminum production will fall by 4.3 percent to 30 million tons. However, growth in aluminium production in Asia and the Middle East will offset the decline in aluminium production caused by China's production curbs.Aluminium production in Asia, excluding China, is expected to rise 21 per cent and the Middle East by 2.3 per cent.
Officials from Australia's industry, innovation and science department remain conservative about China's production of aluminium in 2017.Last week, Beijing antyco predicted that China's aluminum production would reach 36 million tons in 2017, up 10.3 percent from 3265 million tons in 2016.
From 2018 to 2019, global aluminum production is expected to return to growth of 6% a year.China, the Middle East, us aluminum production capacity will increase, the production of aluminium in 2019 will reach 65 million tons.
